This is the most common complaint heard in any practitioner’s office. There are potentially numerous variables involved specific to the individual

1) Fatigue can be part of a severe problem such as cancer, Lymes disease, hepatitis etc.

2) Fatigue can also be a result of lifestyle choices reflected in dietary habits, mineral and nutrient deficiency, high stress, poor sleep patterns, and lack of exercise. These appear to be the most common denominators.

3) Other dysfunctions that contribute to fatigue are chronic pain and/or inflammation, digestive dysfunctions, detoxification problems, psychological influences, obesity, anemia (iron, B12 and/or folic acid), hormonal imbalances, food sensitivities, metal toxicity, virus, bacteria, decreased ATP production, increased free radical production, multiple medications, and a compromised immune system.


Name given to a syndrome describing an array of these symptoms after other ailments are ruled out. It may include:

Aching or inflamed joints
Muscle aches
Sleep difficulty
Tired regardless of how much sleep one has
Mood swings/depression

Exercise will generally make this condition worse. Usually, chronic fatigue results from multiple influences. It includes primarily those factors mentioned in #3.

Chronic fatigue is often associated with fibromyalgia.
