Asthma is an inflammation of the bronchioles makes respiratory function labored and difficult. Medical therapies are directed at reducing the inflammation-antihistamines and leukotriene inhibitors, or act as stimulants to open up the airways i.e. theophylline and the inhalers. Worst case scenarios are often treated with corticosteroids-prednisone.

Most asthmatics tend to have low levels of noradrenaline and high levels of histamine. The high histamine is indicative of an immune system that is in overdrive. This could be due to:

Digestive dysfunction: The child may have food allergies due to early exposure to foods she or he were unable to digest. This could set up an environment for fungal overgrowth. Also, the immune portion of the gut may not have developed properly. This creates a type of hypersensitivity and reactivity to the environment. Check for microflora imbalance, candidiasis, and food allergies.
The low noradrenaline could be due to deficiencies in the vitamins and minerals that synthesize it. Also, high cortiosl levels (stress response) can negatively influence production of noradrenaline.
Factors involved in the triggering of an asthmatic attack are pollen, ragweed, dust, mites, animal dander, feathers, foods, chemicals, cold weather, exercise and psycholgicla stress.

Other conditions with asthmatic are usually numerous. Those most intricately linked are:

Psychological factors

Fatty acid imbalances: Asthma can result from an overproduction of a chemical called leukotriene. This substance is produced at the cell membrane level and has a pro-inflammatory affect. The aforementioned factors can trigger this mechanism as well as an imbalance in the omega 6 and 3 fats, with an imbalanced ratio leaning towards theomega 6 fats.

Food intolerances: Most common are dairy, wheat soy and eggs. For some, foods with sulfites present a risk. Less common are the nightshade foods.
